I don't know this fic, but I don't see anything wrong with a fandom discouraging members from shit-talking works of fanart or fic. It's not like those things are canon or costing you money or anything like that. They're just something another fan did. Chill. Maybe find a friend to rant at about it. Don't ruin the writer's day over it.

I am perpetually baffled by the "Cult of Nice" smear. Like, is it really such a bad thing that a group of people decided, hey, we're not going to put up with people being assholes? Is it really so important to you that you be able to trash someone that you have to silently hate the entire group because they're...nice?

It makes me sad that we can't go by the age-old advice of "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" without being accused of some underhanded haughtiness.

why do you feel the need to "talk about it?" there's lots of fics in my fandom that are well-liked that are pretty crap, I just don't read them. it's a crazy solution, I know.

And neither of those works on mobile. Readmores don't take to mobile, and mobile tags show posts with the words sprinkled in the content as well as in the tags, for some fucked up reason.

THey obviously feel the need to talk about it because they want to get it off their chest.
