(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)From a narrative view, the scene makes sense and propels the plot forward. It's critical to Thomas' character-arc as it's the first time he begins to consider the Native Americans as fellow human beings.
It's just frustrating since Kokoum was a much better character than John 'Watch me do cool stuff. I'm doing cool stuff. Look at how cool I am!' Smith.
I also hate the scene because 'Keep both eyes open' is not how you aim a weapon. Gun-safety, Disney. Learn it.
