I like the worldbuilding in that game, but damn, can I get a female character up in there without having to play online?

I'm hoping considering the way people were clamoring for one we'll see one in DLC or more likely GTA6.

Most of the GTA fanbase are your stereotypical entitled console-kiddie male crowd, though -- so it'll be controversial because anything that isn't a white guy is ~controversial~. Pfft.

It doesn't even make sense. I'm about as unfedora as it gets. You post this shit regardless of when it's appropriate. ...but didn't the GTA series have 2 black leads already? I don't see how having another non-white lead would be "controversial." A woman as the lead would definitely cause a shitstorm though.

There's been several POCs throughout the series, actually!

CJ (San Andreas) and Franklin (GTAV) are both African-American (from predominantly and historically black neighborhoods in a fictionalized Los Angeles.)

Victor (Vice City Stories) and Luis (Ballad of Gay Tony) are Dominican-American.

Huang Lee (Chinatown Wars) is Chinese-American.

You're right, though, it's not as controversial as one might think -- but then again, these are games about criminal behaviour...

I don't have to play female characters, because I do tend to relate to male characters more, but I'd at least like to have the option.

Options are nice. And really, just more female representation in general -- not just faceless player-made characters like most RPGs do it -- would be nice.

I'm not totally crazy about some of the things they do, such as the heavy-handed ethnic stereotyping (particularly in GTA: San Andreas) they rely on as part of the "charm of the games".
