I tend to agree. I just don't like his character design... at least other animes give their characters funny hair or eyes or something; Ghibli character design is supposed to be more realistic but end up looking bland. IDK how many more girls with puffy sleeves/pants they can design before they get bored.

If your idea of creative design is giving characters "funny hair or eyes or something" then I think I'll stick with Studio Ghibli's approach.

I think what the person is clearly saying, butthurt anon, is that at least boring anime face can vary it a little with hair and eyes. It feels like almost all the same characters have basically the same face.

That's a common enough criticism of anime in general. Once an artist settles on a style, they tend to stick with it and many of their characters in series and across series have a similar look, barring the ones who look grossly different for being foreign/magic/alien etc.

That's why I said that in general anime, they at least spice things up with more exotic colors and styles. Brown-haired heroine with a shaggy haircut, simple face and puffy clothes gets boring after 6+ movies.
