OP, you've already been stomped on for your opinion, but you're not alone in your opinion, so don't take it too hard. Mixed fandom's are best, in my experience, but I'd take one that tilted towards guys over gals any day of the week, too.

Same, but I think it's because I draw porn that tends to be consumed by guys* so I'm used to getting shit on by women about my "male gaze". Even when I draw the kinds of men I like it's still apparently a Male Power fantasy and I'm still a shit. Not really my idea of fun to hang around those kinds of people.

I also don't feel I have to walk on eggshells in "male spaces."

*Where in I draw women that represent my fantasies of what I want to happen to me.

Yeah, I completely agree with OP's comment about how a lot of female fans seem to feel the need to somehow "dress up" their porn instead of just calling a spade a spade. There's nothing wrong with porn for the sake of porn. You can draw two guys having sex if you want without it having to be "representation" or "being progressive" or anything like that. You can draw degrading, smutty porn because you like fantasizing about that being done to you and you don't have to excuse it.

You're lucky. In my fandom the slash is being a good ally and representation, the het is sexist, the smut is feminism and female power, even though there are no females in it.

Um, the best thing about my parts of fandom is we're all mostly females and we own our porny shit. We have that progressive stuff and meta and all but we have our Female Gaze fic and art WELL represented.
