I love m/m slash. But I want the emotional journey of the characters, how they meet and interact (or interact starting from where canon is), getting to know each other more in various situations, and fall in love in a slow burn and in character way. Tropes (narrative, emotional) are great as long as they are in character and it's slow burn. I want the emotional journey/plot and not smut/porn. Alas, I feel alone!

I must be in opposite canon mediums then, because in my fandoms there's hardly ever fic that's not R/NC-17 (regarding sexual content.)

Ooo, I love that shit though. I can never get enough fic about two people meeting, falling in love and the complications that can arise because of it.

Granted, I personally am a huge fan of smut as well, but imo just smut would get boring fast.

I want that. I want all of that. Some of my favorite slash stories ever have not a single instance of porn, just thousands of words of character development and slow-burn ~feelings~ and are better for it. Argh, just writing this is making me want go back and re-read them. It's so satisfying when you can find it.
