Re: Words that don't mean anything anymore (to you)
Privilege.
"Lets talk about this." <--This one is related to that stupid post about Princess Jasmine being trans. The author used this phrase and it just made the whole thing sound so self-important. As if she couldn't possibly be wrong and every idea that popped into her empty little head was worthy of discussion.
Re: Words that don't mean anything anymore (to you)
One time there was one from a show I watched where they took a scene out of context ("in Danny Phantom where a ghost genie girl was saying something about how "no man shall lay a hand on me unless I wish it" ) and made it out to be about rape (what happened was that the protagonist tried to stop her from attacking people and she reacted to the fact that he was male and trying to stop her) and that led to people outright calling the protagonist a rapist.
So, yeah nowadays when I see bullshit "can we talk about..." things I kinda want to respond, "can we also talk about the fact that you pulled that out of your ass?"
Re: Words that don't mean anything anymore (to you)
The whole thing is just disgusting. Did they ever wonder how real rape victims would feel if they read that? 'This horrible assault and destruction of your boundaries is the same as a cartoon character not being allowed to attack people.'
Re: Words that don't mean anything anymore (to you)
Yeah one person was like "rape is how Danny Phantom saves the day" and I was just like "how about fuck you" but I didn't respond to them because I have already been dogpiled once. And I had people tell me to "stop stealing oxygen" and shit (how ironic, I was essentially being told to die over an argument about sensitivity to suicide victims). My experience is that they have their view/opinion in mind, and anyone who tries to tell them otherwise is considered "wrong" and "a horrible person".
Really just "HOW DARE YOU TELL ME I'M WRONG." I wouldn't have nearly as many issues with them if they didn't have that attitude.
