The whole point of demisexuality is that you're basically normal. Of course not everyone wants to have sex with everyone, even within their "preference." I don't really see anything queer about not being attracted to strangers, and taking a little bit of time to get to know someone before you really develop sexual feelings for them.

I don't disagree with any of that, anon. I'm talking about something slightly different/more specific: the idea that being attracted to a group of people =/= wanting to fuck that group or someone in that group. Sexual attraction =/= actual desire to sleep with someone.

And in case my last bit was confusing to you - I didn't really think about it this way at the time but I can see how it could come across that way - I don't identify as demisexual at all, I'm just pointing out that the attraction I've experienced to men - quite a few, overall - rarely means I actually would like to sleep with them. Even if it's still sexual attraction.

tl;dr to clarify what I meant: even if you are self-identified as demisexual, you can still be attracted to someone and not want to sleep with them

No it isn't.

The whole idea of demisexuality is that you're essentially asexual until you stumble into a close relationship with someone compatible and you're suddenly like "Wait, what is going on? What are these feelings??" because you never experienced budding sexuality during puberty like most people do.
