I don't even know what you're trying to say.

That's normal. The vast majority of people feel exactly that way.

"Demisexuality" might as well be "standard human sexuality."

So I'm a weirdo for being able to look at strangers or celebrities I've never met and think they're hot? Because I thought that was what was normal. I thought "standard human sexuality" involved sexual attraction being influenced by physical appearance. But I guess I'm the special snowflake now for finding people's appearances sexy whether or not I'm acquainted with them, huh?

I think (and this is coming from someone who doesn't identify as demisexual, so I'm not claiming to speak for them) that part of the issue with demisexuality and normalcy is that it's not so much what actually is normal or not in terms of the human experience, but what our culture tells us is normal. Certainly in the part of the US in which I grew up, finding people hot based on their physical appearance was treated as a normal and expected part of human sexuality - whether it was this celebrity or that guy in math class. I can easily imagine that someone who is exclusively attracted to personalities and doesn't perceive physical appearances to be sexy or hot could feel confused, excluded, and alone as a result of growing up in that culture. Having a label helps them understand themselves and makes them feel less alone.
