Re: Mod Question

I used to mod a pretty active board back in the mid 2000's. While it was supposed to be a PG 13 board, most of us mods let things slide. Pretty much when people started cursing AT each other was when we stepped in. Do you have the ability to Private message various members? I did a lot of that, messaging members to request they knock off (insert X behavior), and then I would step in and banhammer shit if I needed to.

It's on LJ, so it's tricky because if people don't have that setting or they're anon, I have to call them out publicly. Which I really don't like doing unless it's a friendly nudge, i.e. "you need to fix your formatting," which I generally assume is LJ's fault.

Oooh. Good point. Yeeks. I have no idea how you'd go about that, then. I have no experience with modding anon forums. About the only thing I think I would do, maybe, is go uber professional? That might not always be appropriate, though. :/

If you want to be a good mod, you need to get over calling out (especially anon) people who are being shitty.
