Re: Mod Question

I was a mod once, and let people do their thing so as to stay on the good side of everyone (a few other mods were the "jerkasses" the regular members didn't like, so I was the "cool one" they went to for help). Then one day everything just went to shit and I didn't have any control over anyone because they had gone too long without being told to behave.

Long story short, take control now before you lose control. Be firm, but not a tyrant. If there's a little quarrel, don't take sides and just tell /everyone/ involved to calm down and settle things properly. If they don't listen, do something to get them in line, whether it's warnings or changes to rules.

+1-ing not taking sides. The best-case scenario is that all cliques in your community think you're biased against them and for everyone else. Actually favoring one person or group will make life even worse.
