I think I agree in that one type of stylization isn't automatically better for any objective reason. Anime stylization just generally went in a slightly different direction than Western cartoons, and it really comes down to personal preference.

In Understanding Comics Scott McCloud actually brings up some very interesting points about storytelling differences between comics and manga, and some of the influences that have sneaked in. Really, the influences go back and forth so idk what there is to be snobbish about.

On the other hand, I can agree with people that don't like the current trend for excessively moe style in anime these days. I don't like it either. But pretending that's all anime/manga is is just ignorant.

plus understanding comics is a fabulous book, and everyone should read it.
