5. I read that interview about 5 TIMES looking for something racist. It wasn't racism, it was pride. He never said the Japanese were BETTER than any other race. That's racism. He said the Japanese were great-- that's not racism unless he said they were better. I don't know where everyone is coming up with the racism bullshit.
& he didn't take over S.K.I.N., he's the singer, OBVIOUSLY he's gonna get a lot of attention to his "sucky voice".

I'll go ahead & say I'm an "ignorant & annoying fangirl that needs a kick in the ass" then. HE'S AMAZING.

True. The key word there is "excessive". Pride in one's country isn't inherently bad but when it becomes excessive, then there's a problem. However, I don't think Gackt was advocating excessive pride (it might seem that way to others, but I don't really think so because it is not as though he didn't recognize Japan's flaws in the interview).

I agree. I'm not a big Gackt fan, but I read the interview. I took from it that though Gackt has pride in his country and its traditions, he recognizes its flaws. But he wants to take what he likes about Japan and make that into a part of his image and his music. I didn't see the part where he said "The Japanese are the bestest people in the world and all other people r doinks!!1111!!!!". If anything, Gackt really appreciates his overseas fans from all I've read about him.

Being proud of your country doesn't automatically equal racism/extreme right-wing-ness.

Yeah. The "GACKT IS RACIST/AN EXTREME NATIONALIST" people took that interview waaaay out of context -_- It's like they saw Gackt praising bushido + the "Japanese are great" remark + his remarks about disappearing traditions and automatically equated that to Gackt being an extremist who wants Japan to invade countries and kill people again. What a bunch of doinks. I highly doubt Gackt is a racist. If he was oh-so-racist, I doubt he would appreciate his overseas fans as much as he does (and he certainly wouldn't sing 12gatsu no Love Song in all those languages, including Chinese and Korean). Not to mention he has several friends from other countries and has dated many non-Japanese women including other Asians. So yeah, I don't think he is a racist.

I'm glad that people were there to go 'wtf is so racist?' but the others agreeing.. they should go find out what the terms mean FIRST. Racism, pride- look it up.
I agree, when I saw the 12Gatsu no Love Song pv (especially going to NY to visit the memorial) & heard them in like, a million different languages, I find it hard to believe that he's racist.
Uck, stupid secret made me go all crazy xD
