If this was OP's first venture into anything animated, it's doubtful that they could be any kind of weeaboo.

A lot of these are weird animation first picks, though, especially the anime ones. From Up On Poppy Hill is one of the least known Ghibli Movies and Cat Soup is the most obscure thing one the secret, where even in the anime community it's hardly ever mentioned. Dog of Flanders was somewhat popular near the end of VHS era, but isn't too well know today.
