I'm vegetarian, and will probably raise my future kids vegetarian. Maybe some fish at most, but yeah. No shame. I'm pretty health conscious and incorporate a lot of alternative protein sources into my diet, eat a lot of veggies and so on. If my doctor was worried about my hypothetical kids' hypothetical health, I would give them some meats, but otherwise? Vegetarian it is. I really think there are worse child abuses going on, and certainly worse nutritional atrocities (like feeding your kids fast food every day, excessive sweets and so on) - I'd be more worried about that if I were you.

Yep.

I've never understood people who eat meat thinking they know better than people who don't, how to eat a balanced veg*n diet.

I also don't understand why so many meat eaters get insulted by my diet, especially considering I don't ask them to give up meat.

*raises hand* I eat meat, but I learned how to make our family meals vegan because our dietary needs as a family make eating out difficult (allergies, veganism, diabetes, fructose intolerance on a person who loves dessert and it just keeps getting bloody better...).

Even so I concur with you. I had a lot of really bad ideas about what vegan cooking before I got into it, and my family was kind of worried when I took over our group meals and said "I'll always make them so we can all eat everything". Even the crazy meat-eater went bluhbluh over my falafel, and I firmly intend to throw an all-vegan burger fest in the summer. :D

The only problem with all this is that I now "have no excuse" other than that I really fucking love chicken and processed meat to continue eating meat. >

The fish thing kind of confuses me, because frankly the local fishing industries are some of the most environmentally dubious food-production industries I know of.
