I knew this family that were vegans, so no meat or eggs or milk. But they'd feed their kids oreo's and cheetos and all other kinds of junk food to get their calories and I was just so baffled. There's no way it was healthy for them.

I know a lot a vegetarians have it all figured out and can do it right but yeah some people get it wrong.

But ... don't oreos have some sort of egg and milk based stuff in it (and cheetos some sort of cheesy substance)? Or is everything in those synthetic?

Oreos are notoriously vegan! They are in some wicked delicious vegan dessert recipes for just this reason - making the base in vegan cheesecake, chocolate biscuit cake, crumbled into all sorts... :)

Interestingly, oreos that were sold in Europe used not to be vegan (much to my disappointment, as that's where I am), but then the recently altered the recipe to be in line with the US one, so now they're all vegan.

Cheetos, I've no idea, I'm sorry. We don't have that brand here.

*then they recently altered

Ah, alright! I hate oreos (and they are not exactly commonly bought where I live - fellow European country here) so I never really looked at the packaging very closely.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cheetos cheese powder had nothing to do with actual cheese.
