This reminds me of before the seventh harry potter book had come out, we had a book that was like ~what will happen in harry potter seven~ and it analyzed the first six books to find loose ends and foreshadowing and whatnot, and it was like. WAY more hardcore than the actual series, no joke I remember one part literally talking about some fly buzzing around and being like "this is important, she wouldn't include this if it wasn't important, THIS FLY IS GOING TO SHOW UP IN BOOK SEVEN."
So yeah, I guess what I'm saying is that ridiculous over-the-top fan theories are always fun, even if they give way too much credit to the author.

That was really silly. GRRM is pretty sneaky in terms of his plots and hidden connections, so I get why people would come up with tinhat theories, but Rowling is just not that complicated or nuanced of a writer. Her "foreshadowing" is strictly on a YA level.

Oh man, that reminds me. Do you remember the full on published fan theory books? Like the ones actually stacked in Borders/Barnes and Nobles/what have you? Those were the best.

I think my mom ended up buying one of the ones that was solely about Snape's true motivations.
