Hmm, I never read a book I regretted for that reason. I can sort of deal with fucked-upness, the REAL thing that will make me feel lied to is if the book is boring.

That being said, The Wasp Factory did have a huge WTF factor for me. It was given to me by my ex (here, you must read this!) and it did not turn out the way you think. (Do not read this book if descriptions of deliberately killing wasps bother you).

That being said, I do think it's GOOD, just somewhat disturbing.
