I may have mentioned a while back that there was an editor who was going to publish one of my stories. That recently fell through. Anyway, I found out after he accepted that the reason he uses a pseudonym is that he's a convicted child molester, and he has a long history of writing and publishing stories that involve violence against young girls. My young FMC gets beaten up pretty badly at one point, but I didn't intend for it to be sexual at all, so I was pretty squicked out--that's not the audience I was going for!

Holy shit, that's terrifying. I'm sorry to hear your deal fell through but congrats on getting away from that editor.

The deal falling through might be a lucky break in its own weird way. Eugh.
