That I can somehow magically stop being shy or quiet around new people, and the fact that I can't means I'm just not trying hard enough. Also. Pointing it out? Only makes it worse.(I'm well aware of how much of an awkward fuck I am, telling me is going to do jack shit, especially when I already feel like the entire room is staring at me).

Do you get people making those jokes about "lol stop being so loud over there, give some other people a chance to talk! lolol"? That annoys me so much.

Yup, along with 'God why are you so quiet? Just say something!' as if that is going to help.

I'll never understand how some people think pointing our your difficulty with conversing is somehow going to help your social skills. That isn't how it works. If anything they just make it harder for you to open up and be comfortable.

It boggles the mind, I guess in some way they must think it's helpful, but it really isn't. (And sometimes they're just dicks who take fun in watching you squirm.)

Yup, or "you have to get over it." I know that ffs!! If it were that easy my life would be so different right now. (social anxiety)

I get this with people telling me that I'd feel so much better if I left the house and hung out with tons of people all the time.

It's like "No, actually that would produce the OPPOSITE results of what you want." Extended social outings make me MORE anxious and crazier.

I wish people would respect how other's mental health works.

This, so much. I love spending time with my brother/parents and I'm great one on one with someone when out and about, but do NOT think that taking me somewhere with thirty-odd strangers is going to do anything but make me want to find a corner and pretend to be asleep.

I can't even handle when we have extended family get togethers and I KNOW them. Just being surrounded by so many people has me shrivelling up and crying on the inside. :
