I am not good at conversation because I tend to talk about topics that make me excited or that I'm interested in, like writing or talking about my stories. I know that it's technically an Asperger's Syndrome thing but it makes me feel really bad afterwards.

I constantly worry about seeming like a self obsessed asshole.

I'm the same way. I don't have Asperger's, but I'm shy and find talking difficult, and people never seem to tell me about themselves, so it's often just easier for me to talk about things that make me excited.
