(Anonymous) 2014-06-24 01:03 am (UTC)(link)Also, on the flip side, the idea that slashing two characters who barely interact at all because you like their *potential* dynamic is "dumb" and "nonsensical". Uh...why not? What's so wrong with that? In canon, sometimes two characters in a large cast will start out barely interacting, but then become very shippy once they finally do get put in a situation interact. So what's wrong with doing the same thing in fanfic? But everyone seems to sneeringly dismiss these "what if?" slash ships as white cock syndrome, which grinds my gears because I find it incredibly closed-minded. (Technically, this counts for het shipping too, but I usually only see it in slash.)
