I hate it. And so many of them want you to have very specific experience, and I'm not sure entry level positions really exist like they used to. I think it's that a lot of managers and bosses just don't want to spend the money on people they'll have to train and let work up. They want to hire someone with expertise. And then those same people complain that stupid inexperienced kids won't just go get jobs. *Facepalm*

I found a job listing yesterday for a receptionist position at a local animal shelter's spay/neuter clinic. List of responsibilities a mile long, minimum of two years' experience in a veterinaty setting required, long disclaimer about how you're likely to be exposed to all sorts of animal diseases, and the hourly rate is less than I was making stocking shelves at a grocery store.

Sounds like they want a low-paid tech assistant if you need that much experience, not a receptionist. I get the animal diseases part, but the rest of it...
