I'm not sure it's regressive. That's going a little far. I don't think a movie where you have a woman main character who's central to the film, as well developed as any other character in the film, and who's presented basically on her own terms, not in relation to a male character, can be called actively regressive. I agree it's not as progressive as it could be and I wish there were more female characters but I wouldn't say it's regressive.
