And in a lot of the promotional material. I'm not sure about the actual film, but the posters ft. Loki for Thor 1 had p. green eyes going on.

In the first Thor movie they were green, it's especially prominent in the poster featuring only him. In the Avengers and Thor 2 they didn't bother with the contacts/digital coloring or, for some reason, dying his eyebrows black to match his hair.

I thought that as well (and this was where a huge part of the Loki being controlled by the tesserect came from) but was not for sure. Glad you got a better memory.

Tom Hiddleston's eyes might be blue, but that hasn't stopped Marvel from turning them green on posters and such. Here's a good example: http://i.imgur.com/UI9xpy7.jpg

It could be partly to keep in with the comics, but also because green is the color of jealousy and evil and all that nonsense. Plus, if they're green they'll match his clothes! :Db

I totally agree. Especially not when he's sharing the screen with Chris Hemsworth/Thor.

I marginally understand Loki (dark-haired Sexy Villain), but IMO, Tom is much better looking than Loki.

Also, he has a traditionally masculine nose, a nice smile, and friendly eyes. (Tom, not Loki)

I dare you to watch the Nerd Machine panel with TH (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLX-tdqEjUg) and not fall in love. I couldn't care less about him until I stumbled upon this while waiting for another NM panel to start... now I'd vote him King of the Universe, without question. (...and have his babies)

I never understood either until I saw that clip of him at a con, I think it was Comicon where he entered and took control of the room as Loki. Just a stunning presence is all I can say.

might be due to the whole color scheme thing. y'know, thor is red/blue, loki's green. just look at their capes.

another possible reason is because fanfic authors seem to like their otp to have different eye colors. that way they can use stuff like "his deep blue eyes met his vibrant green ones". sounds lazy, but i didn't say it was a good reason.

You know, you could've resized the image and wrote what you had to instead of cutting off the bottom and pasting tiny text like that? Both require about the same time anyways.

People refusing to understand that comics canon =/= movie canon, and or thinking green is more ~speshiul~ and therefore simply ignoring movie canon.

Also I don't think those moronic "Loki was being controlled!!" headcanons based on the different lighting making Hiddleston's eyes look a teeny tiny bit bluer in The Avengers than in Thor help any, because people will take any excuse to deflect blame from the guy.

Welp, obviously I haven't spent much time staring at Loki or Tom. (I mostly find myself staring at Thor, so I guess this isn't overtly surprising.)

In the comics they're green and in the promotional posters his eyes were 'shopped to be green and fans kind of just stuck with it I guess? Tbh in the first Thor film his eyes do look a bit green but I think that might be down to lighting/being surrounded by gold all the time or something because I can't say for certain if they're green all the time in that movie.

Okay, but if you're reading fic that specifically calls out his eye color without reason, it's probably a bad fic regardless of the color chosen.

They shoop Hiddleston's eyes green for promo art, based on the comic design/color scheme/green=jealousy everyone else mentioned. ADDITIONALLY, the color of blue eyes can be perceived differently based on the local color being reflected in them. In Thor1, the mostly-gold Asgardian architecture was surrounding Loki in just about every scene, resulting in a greenish color. In the scene when he appears in the SHIELD interrogation room, you can tell they're blue.

See in all three films Loki's eyes look blue to me apart from maybe in certain light in Asgard so the green thing used to confuse me. Then I sort of forgave it when I realised a lot of Thor promo stuff had shopped them green. But on film definitely do not see it personally so thought although the mind control theory is sort of plausible I don't see the blue then green eyes thing. Plus I believe Loki knew what he was doing but was desperate out of fear of torture/whatever. He's still a little shit though!

Incidentally my sister who has eyes even bluer than TH insists she has green eyes. She really really doesn't but my mum and I have given up arguing and just roll our also blue eyes at each other!

Because the char's eyes are green. Some people might change them to blue to match the actor in an MCU fic, but they might not.

You're not a bad fan for wanting to know things about a character. Don't let pretentious idiots make you afraid to ask questions and know more about things you're interested in.
(I think they're green. It makes sense for them to be green, anyway.)

a) Tom's eyes can look changeable and b) the photoshop on the promotional material is really inconsistent. There's a whole faction of fans who think that Loki was brainwashed in The Avengers because his eyes aren't green!
