In the first Thor movie they were green, it's especially prominent in the poster featuring only him. In the Avengers and Thor 2 they didn't bother with the contacts/digital coloring or, for some reason, dying his eyebrows black to match his hair.

I thought that as well (and this was where a huge part of the Loki being controlled by the tesserect came from) but was not for sure. Glad you got a better memory.

No he wasn't. But that was a popular fan theory (that many people hated).

The theory trying to say Loki was entirely an innocent, helpless victim is going to far, but I'm willing to accept that Loki was mind-controlled by the tesseract in the way it's lined out in this tumblr post:
