Trigun, FMA

Wolfwood's death in Trigun was moving even though it ripped my heart out. Same goes for Hughes from FMA. Both his death and the reaction to it was pretty heart wrenching but both deaths were well done imo. I especially liked that they had Wolfwood talk about how he wasn't ready to die and that he wanted to be live because he wasn't ready to leave his friends. A lot of times, characters like Wormwood get "cool" deaths where they go out in a blaze of glory and accept their fate stoically. Wolfwood's felt a lot more real and his desperation to live made his death more tragic

Not Wolfwood. ;_; I think in the years since watching Trigun I had somehow convinced myself he didn't die. (I think he didn't in the manga? But he definitely did in the anime and it was crushing. Such a heartbreaking scene.)

Hughes is about the worst anime death for me though, because of Elicia's reaction. Just...nope.

lol, I did the same thing with Wolfwood. I first saw the episode where he died when I was like ten (or whenever Trigun first aired on adult swim, I can't really remember) and I just kind of repressed it. Then a couple of years ago I rewatched the show on netflix and when I got to his death scene I was like "WHAT NO, WHAT'S HAPPENING??".

Both Elicia and Mustang's reactions gutted me. In a series with a lot of tearjerking moments, that took the cake for me.

Yeaaaaaaaa, I think I made up my own world where he and Vash kept on fighting the good fight because I couldn't handle the thought of him going out like that. And the imagery of him dying on his cross was so tragic and dramatic and really got me. Ugh, Wolfwood.

We were right to repress it. It might be a great scene, but it shouldn't have happened! *grumble*

Right, Mustang crying always gets me too. And the flashback episode where you see Hughes and Mustang; Hughes was the perfect friend. Plus in the other anime when Roy becomes obsessed with punishing Hughes' murderer. God, that relationship.
