I'm thinking about it and it's true, I don't think I've ever publicly posted 'this is terrible' when posting a fic. But I do have a fic page on my tumblr, and there's a category 'please don't read these.' Probably the closest I've ever gotten to saying 'this is terrible.'

I am in general pretty insecure about a lot of what I write, and I'm certain there are other guys who are too (I'm friends with one of them in fact), but we don't really say as much very often. Not publicly, anyway.

So there's probably something to your theory there.
