This is probably not quite the type of answer you were looking for, but those automatic flush toilets. I HATE THOSE THINGS SO MUCH. It's one modern "convenience" that I wish didn't exist. It seems like half the time they flush while I'm sitting down and I have to jump up really quick so I don't get toilet water spraying all over my parts. It usually takes like 3 tries to be able to sit down without it flushing on the ones that do that. And sometimes when I actually need it to flush, it won't (although a lot of times there's a little button on the wall that you can push if it doesn't flush).

SO. DAMN. ANNOYING.

You should have been there the first time I tried to use a paper seat liner on an automatic flushing toilet!

Nah, I hear you. Worst well-intentioned device ever. If it's gonna splash up that much water while you're freaking sitting, it might as well be a bidet.

I'd hate to be an elderly person who gets surprised by the random flush.

I think the automatic bathroom sinks are worse. You get, like, a teaspoon worth of water to wash your hands, and any attempts to get more result in jets of water that splash your shirt or barely wet your hands. :/

Also, it's always cold, which leaves me feeling that my hands aren't really clean.

They've installed these things all over campus at my school, and sometimes one will auto-flush a dozen times before I can get away. How is that not wasteful? I hate them so much--and I'm yet to figure out what sets them off, too!
