Eh, the idea of fans making tribute images like that generally bothers me a little less than companies doing the same: http://www.wbshop.com/product/looney+tunes+speechless+print+honoring+mel+blanc+lntcpsp2.do

(Can't really put my finger on why that one bothers me, but it might have to do with WB selling the piece instead of allowing it to simply exist as a tribute.)

That said, there are fan tributes regarding real-life events that cross the line of respectability, and those ones do bother me quite a bit.

Exactly my thoughts. When fans do it, it might in the worst case scenario be a sympathy thing to get attention, but it's more likely than not sincere. When companies do it (and sell it as merchendise) they're making money off a tragedy. And whether or not that was the original intention doesn't even matter anymore, they're making money off someone's passing, and that's low.
