(Anonymous) 2014-06-29 02:33 am (UTC)(link)Whether or not that's the case, there is something I find really interesting about the a/b/o gender roles that pop up: they're heteronormative, but almost exclusively applied to same-sex pairings. It's like the entire genre exists just to normalize same-sex pairings in the context of the modern world, because alpha/omega pairings are considered the norm and there is never any backlash for male/male or female/female. I can count the times I've seen a/b/o with male/female on one hand, and I think that's really interesting. Inventing new biology: so much easier than pretending people aren't homophobic, am I right?
