I know they're trying desperately to emulate Naoko Takeuchi's art style,
but it just looks like crappy, generic "How to Draw Anime" book art.

That, and they're suffering from massive sameface, and also looking like they can hardly emote, from what's indicated in the current trailer for the show.

I've been dying for an anime adaptation of the actual Sailor Moon manga plotline, though, so I'm still going to give it a shot.

I agree. Those asymmetrical, unfocused eyes are really distracting (I can't imagine that's intentional).

The original had sameface too. Most anime does.

Yeah. It's one of the most frustrating things about any fandom, that you might agree with an overall idea, but people keep focusing on points that are misleading or wrong and you can't support that idea.

At least most of the Senshi had distinctive eye designs. If you look at it, they're all different, especially Hotaru's. This new anime is about as same faced as they come.

It did, but this is far worse about it.
