This isn't reallya complaint, but it is something I've noticed. I'm hard of hearing, and it drives me nuts how some shows/movies are at a lower volume. I know this sounds crazy, and with hearing aids (or, you know, "normal" hearing) you don't notice, but seriously, I can barely hear some things when I watch them without my hearing aids. It's annoying because it makes it hard if I'm trying to watch something right before bed.

Are you using an incognito window in Chrome, by any chance? That can cause this problem, I've found (and just opening the site in a regular window fixes it).

Or the muscle twitches. D: Had a bone scan and an MRI and by the end of both I swear every muscle was spasming to the 1812 Overture.

Hope your appointment went well! (As well as medical appointments can go.)

If you want to complain about fat people, go to reddit. They've got entire subreddits devoted to it.

One of my medications keeps my weight up, and I am surrounded by weight loss advice that goes on about how eating less and exercising more is all there is to it and I'm just lazy and lack self-control.

Re: Complaining thread

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
There are a lot of stupid people in the world.

I'm shocked at how many people still believe there's a "one size fits all" weight loss plan (no pun intended).

:( Sorry, that sucks. If you're really concerned about it I suppose you could always speak with your doctor (though...they gave you the medicine in the first place, so not sure what good that would do unless you switched medications, and then you'd have to see if the new one would work and arg, meds are a mess), but if it isn't bothering you then whatever. Weight gain seems to be a pretty common side effect of many medications, unfortunately.

IMHO people as a rule tend to underestimate the influence pills can have. I think it's because most of them, if healthy, just take an aspirin - or antibiotics if it's really bad, but rarely need to take pills that actually have serious side effects.

I'm the opposite. The combo of all my meds had me dropping fifty pounds as well as keeping the weight off/perpetually hungry which has co-workers/concern trollers all "DO YOU EVER EAT? YOU NEED TO EAT MORE!"

I don't think people win no matter the side they're on, sadly. And there's nothing you can say to those types of people that will get them to back off either. :/ Just tell them that when your weight becomes their concern then you'll let them know. Until then they can jog on. t(o.ot)

So I pay my bills two or three times a year in huge chunks with my student loans. But all of a sudden three of my bill places either won't let me pay ahead for a credit to the account, or REFUSE to let me pay with a card.

WTF I AM TRYING TO GIVE YOU MONEY. ISN'T THAT THE ONE THING YOU COMPANIES WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING?!!!! TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY!

My nightmares were bad enough, but now I'm starting to have dreams that require focus and concentration. The other night, I had a dream that I'd forgotten to write an essay for a class, and I actually started writing an essay in my dream, with an introduction and a conclusion and detailed citations of the source material (a lit-fic novel that I'm fairly certain only exists in my head.) I always feel so exhausted when I wake up . . .

I hate the recommendation algorithms on Hulu and Netflix. Stop suggesting things to me based on something where I watched one episode and then removed it from my list, or where I specifically clicked "I hated this." And stop treating animation, anime, and foreign films as genres and trying to tell me that since I liked Phineas and Ferb I'll like shows about learning to count to ten, since I liked Fullmetal Alchemist I'll like anime porn, and since I liked Amelie I'll like Korean supernatural horror. And a special complaint to Hulu, if you're going to hurl random anime recommendations at me because I watched Mushi-Shi, Mushi-Shi: The Next Passage should at least make the list.

This isn't really a complaint, but it is something kind of weird I've noticed. I'm hard of hearing, and it drives me nuts how some shows/movies are at a lower volume. I know this sounds crazy, and with hearing aids (or, you know, "normal" hearing) you don't notice, but I do... sometimes even with hearing aids I have trouble. It's strange and irritating.

I am so fucking tired of fireworks. Off in the distance, where I don't have to hear them, fine, they're pretty, I get it.

But right across the street? No. I am trying to write, not stave off panic attacks.

In a densely-packed area where it's pretty damn unsafe to be setting them off? No. If you set my roof on fire I will sue your ass off.

It's not even the goddamn holiday yet. You've been setting off fireworks every night for a week; you can't wait 'til the first? Doesn't it make them more special to save them for one or two nights a year, not one or two weeks?

I think I preferred the days when you had to have a permit just to buy fireworks.
