I mean, a lot of the show was Alex messing with (the balance of) things, or getting into trouble (going to extremes).

Besides, there were some messed up implications in that show and The Movie was pretty dark.

True, but the *complete* implications of "the end will no doubt justify the means" and "well, you might find out it will go to your head" and "when you can get all you wanted in your wildest dreams" can go to some pretty twisted places...
