I have the book with me but I decided to lay it off and read it after the last movie comes out because I don't want to spoil it. *insert READ THE BOOOKKK.gif*

But I hate movie!Thorin with a burning passion, he is a lousy king and I lost all the respect I had for him in that scene where they reached that hidden door and he simply threw the key and all the fucks he gave and decided to leave like 5 secs after they reached without even trying. That was a seriously dumb move.

I was hoping we'd have a different version of him in the book. Like movie!Frodo and book!Frodo in LOTR.

The writing was extremely weird in that one scene, but I think on the whole his character is actually pretty consistent.

I heard even Richard Armitage felt that was OOC when Peter Jackson gave the directions.

Yeah, I thought that was dumb, too. I blame it more on the fact that Jackson makes some weird decisions about what he thinks is necessary drama (hello "Arwen's life depends upon the fate of the Ring", etc. etc.) and quite frankly he's just wrong.
