Fave New: DONNA, let me shout your glory from the rooftops oh shouty ginger one. Close runner-up is Rory, bless his practical little heart.
Fave Old: Kind of a tie between Ace and Sarah Jane, although I have a soft spot for the trio of Two+Jamie+Zoe (adorable pocket-size TARDIS team yes please)

Least Fave New: I liked her at first with Nine, but her relationship with Ten was SO unhealthy, and she was SO dragged out, that I grew to hate Rose. Still can't stand her, alas.
Least Fave Old: Didn't much care for Tegan.


...actually there's a lot of companions that I only like with one Doctor or another, or in one medium or another; like, I didn't much care for Turlough on the show but in the audiobooks he was great. Liked Rose with Nine and hated her with Ten.

If there was a good way to include them I'd love to have the Doctor co-opt Sarah Jane's companions at some point! Pre-trained humans in their prime, smart and resourceful and compassionate and good at running? He'd be all over that. (maybe I mostly want Clyde back on my tv screen is that a crime??)

this makes me kinda happy that I stopped watching a few eps into Ten. I really liked Rose and Nine, and I kinda want to just...keep it that way in my head...

I kinda wish I'd done that too, although I ADORED Ten's dynamic with Donna so I'd hate to have missed that. I liked Martha as a character but I would have been willing to miss out on her if it also meant I'd miss out on the Doctor fucking pining over fucking Rose. (Like, Three was just as close to Jo as Nine was to Rose, and HE moped for about an episode then moved on [as he does, especially after a regeneration] and that was never held over Sarah Jane's head)

I can stand to watch Nine's season because I think of later Rose as some kind of alternate universe one in my head. Siiiigh. (I get people's complaints about Moffat as a showrunner, I definitely think he's better in small doses, but RTD identifying with the companion [thus all the companions being in love with the Doctor like he is] as opposed to Moffat identifying with the Doctor [look how clever I am!] just drove me batty after a while)

...sorry this turned into a teal deer. XD no one in my real life likes DW so I never get to discuss my feelings about it!
