Headaches or no, he's still a sadistic murderer.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
And?

It's not like feeling bad for other people is in any way justifying their crimes.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Who in that world setting isn't?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Er...most of the main cast isn't a sadistic murderer. And certainly Gregor Clegane is like A+ top of the line sadistic murderer.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, constant blinding migraines turn the best of us into rapists and/or brutally sadistic killers.

Oh wait.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's implied in the books that the reason for the migraines (and possibly his behavior) is a traumatic head injury. Not that it's a complete excuse for being a rapist and a murderer, but there's a little more to it than migraines. Major personality change after certain types of head injuries are a real thing, albeit not as exaggerated as it is in this example.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It can't have been that major a personality change since he shoved his brother's face in a fire as a child.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Same anon, here.

It's actually not known whether his headaches are due to some side effect of gigantism or something similar, or whether it's due to a head injury. One character's comment implies that it can happen as a result of the latter, but given that his behaviour in childhood was as brutal as it is in adulthood, I'm inclined to suspect its the former, rather than the latter, in his case.

Given everything we've seen of Ser Gregor, he's always been a complete monster.

OP just feels bad that he has migraines. It doesn't mean that she or he thinks the migraines caused him to be the way he is.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I feel bad for book!Tywin in that, like me, he shaves his head because he's self-conscious about male pattern baldness. That's a frustration I understand and share. It doesn't mean that I don't think Tywin isn't a vile, dishonest, piece of shit. It just means I share one of his problems, so I empathize with that.

Luckily, he doesn't have them anymore. Due to his lack of head.

SPOILERS!

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Wait - are we talking show!Gregor or book!Gregor? Because it's been pretty much confirmed that book!Gregor got reborn as "Sir Robert Strong", and has a head.

are we sure he has a head? You ever see that helmet come off?

I like to think that his skull really is in Dorne. Maybe he'll try to go get it back someday?

i don't know who this is or what it's from but i have a headache right now :( they're the worst

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's Ser Gregor Clegane from A Song Of Ice And Fire. He's a murderer and rapist who stuck his brother's face in a fire as a child because he was playing with his toy. He's known for being extremely brutal, cruel and savage.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
IDK who this is, but I have had myopic migraines since I was 13 and god, I feel your pain.

I have had a headache every day since July, 2008, anon. I'm sending you a hug over the intertubes.

...where to start

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I had daily migraines for just over 18 months at ages 10-11, and if someone had approached me at the wrong time I would have happily shoved them in a fire, let me tell you. Not that I grew up into a rapist and mass-murderer, but then again the migraines did stop after surgery...

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Pfft. I bet Oberyn's headache was a lot worse.
