For one thing, because movies aren't their moral messages. It's still a fun, charming movie, even if you dislike the message of the ending.

Also, it's been a long time since I've seen it, but isn't the ending a little more ambiguous and fairy-talish than that? I don't remember reading a moral message into it any which way to be honest, but I freely admit that could be my mind playing tricks on me.
