How does she not have time to edit her self-published ebooks? There's no deadline there. I call bullshit on that excuse.

If they are poorly-edited, she should not expect to get paid for them. When I pay for a book, whether or not it's self-published, I am paying for a professional-level product. If she's not fully developing her stories, then her stories also do not represent work that entitles payment. Just because someone has made the leap to original fiction doesn't automatically mean they should get paid for it. Plenty of us have been slogging away for years at this shit without getting paid. Yay for her for making the leap, but it sounds like she's got a ways to go.

I kinda wondered this myself. Does she not have friends (or fans like the OP?) that might be willing to help her out, even if it's just to proofread her stuff? A good friend of mine is a self published author too, but she understands that putting out a quality product is key to convincing people to buy your book.
