Indeed. There are so many issues specific to Tumblr, because Tumblr as a platform only allows one-way soap-boxing and has no idea what a community is (sigh). I've written so much on why Tumblr as a platform just sucks (it's almost too easy, really).

I very much like discussions and debate, and I don't think Tumblr lends itself well to that at all. But I can see how people might enjoy the rapid content generation and sharing pretty things over wordy discussions and debate, so I guess YMMV. But speaking for myself, yep, I'm waiting/hoping for Tumblr to come crashing down. I hope it's just a matter of time.

I agree with this. (Well, all but your last sentence. I don't want it to die, but I would also enjoy another move to a different platform.)

Tumblr is good for instant gratification (seeing what fandom thinks of something, keeping up with news, etc) but other than that (and pretty pictures!)...I don't find it good for much. IDK how people use it for holding discussions or making friends. (Don't get me wrong, I get some people manage it, but that hasn't been my experience.)
