I think that depends on the argument--people can argue about anything, and not all sides should have equal weight. Not seeing both sides of a debate is something else.

No, I agree, it does depend on the argument. There are times when one side is right and one side is wrong, there are times when one side is being presented ridiculously, there's all kinds of different things.

I guess what I'm talking about specifically is when somebody in an argument is denying even the possibility that the other side could have a point. They're clearly not trying to understand why the other side thinks that they think - sometimes it seems like they're not even really trying to prove the other side wrong, just presenting their own point of view over and over.

It's okay to think that not all sides have equal weight but you should at least be trying to engage with the other person and understand where they're coming from, even if it's totally wrong and only worthy of being dismissed.
