Re: Your berserk buttons
Oh, yeah? F!@K YOU!
I got this my entire life. Really. MY ENTIRE LIFE. To the point that I am really short fused about it. Like I'm sorry I don't fit your stereotypes. And I got this from everyone, white, black, Hispanic, Asian. What's worse was getting it from fellow mixed kids. You would think they would understand what it feels like to not look exactly like one ethnic side or another. But no...freakin' idiots.

Funny enough, the only people who have never questioned me are Puerto Ricans from the island. (As opposed to New Ricans which are Puerto Ricans who grew up in New York and New Jersey.) They know that there are a ton of people who look like me running around in the island.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 02:52 am (UTC)(link)As a mixed kid (well, adult... most days :P), I wouldn't even think of questioning someone's race/ethnicity. Mostly because it doesn't matter to me, and well, it's just fucking rude.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)As a fellow Boricua, from NY no less, I just want to say that we should all realize by now that we come in different shades and colors, from ivory to ebony skin and everything in between. Only a fool would try to deny it. Be it by blood or by tradition, you are what you are. Haters will hate, and fools will walk on in their ignorance. As the poem goes, "Y tu abuela, donde esta?"
Also, do you sometimes feel like you have identity issues? This can be an awesome discussion. Might get an account to continue it.
Anyhow, just a word of encouragement from a compatriot.
