I hate the phrase "first world problems" in general. Way to turn people in undeveloped countries into tragic caricatures who never feel petty emotions. In addition to the obvious problem of being yet another version of "stop complaining, other people have it worse".

"stop complaining, other people have it worse"

Which, is horrible if you think about it. Because someone is always going to have it worse than you are, but that doesn't mean your issues aren't valid. It's downplaying genuine problem in people life just because they're not a famished child with AIDS in Africa. It also poses the ridiculous notion you can't care about several issues at the same time.

"Other people have it worse" is a really lovely thing to say to, say, people suffering from depressions. "But you're really well off compared to other people, you have neither reason nor right to be sad". Yes, thanks, that only makes me feel even more guilty and self loathing, well done.
