I've just started it, and thus far I am finding memrise's format to be easier, but that may be just because I am used to memrise, and Duolingo certainly has some advantages.

One of those is the voice test thing, but it can be fooled. I was asked for the spanish for "I am a girl" and I couldn't remember so I said it in gàidhlig and passed even though the gàidhlig had several more syllables. I sent recordings of me saying both "Soy Niña" and "Tha mi nithean" to a friend and she agreed they don't sound alike.

I currently disabled the microphone as it just didn't work half of the time.

I would, but it's relaxing to yell at it until it either understands (or misunderstands) or it just gives up.

I'm also using both, and I prefer Duolingo's set-up. There's only so much vocab a person can learn before she realizes she has no idea how to use it in a sentence!

But yeah, I'm someone who still misses the way Memrise worked in the beta & am still very bitter about all the changes. It's nice that it has so many more languages, though.
