Honestly, I'm pretty sure most of us who like discussion realize that - and, out of the people I've talked to about this - we're not trying to make tumblr that. It's painfully obvious that it was just intended to share content, not comment on it.

That said, why *shouldn't* we be allowed to be frustrated that tumblr makesit hard when it's where fandom's main hub is for the forseeable future? Particularly since other places to find fandom either have a very small community, or have other restrictions that seriously limit conversation in most fandoms? With Twitter you can at least post a link to an essay and have a decent chance of getting a response. You can't do that with conversation on Tumblr.
