Crackiest crossovers that you really want to see (in fic or otherwise)

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Double points if you can come up with a coherent and somewhat logical scenario/plot for the crossover

Shouldn't this be in the Games thread?

Top Gear/Silent Hill.

Oh wait, that one was written already.

I figure Star Trek (any gen, but Enterprise or Voyager in particular just because how up themselves those shows were) combined with Discworld. "Captain, sensors are picking up a turtle!".

Voyager, I think. Definitely Voyager. Mostly because I want to see the Doctor react to everything. If A'Tuin is going to exist anywhere in the Trek verse, the Delta quadrant is probably where it'll be.

Also, I want to see Starfleet attempt to run Nobby through a species classification databank. Oooh! And Hex! Actually, Ponder would probably get on splendidly with Star Fleet engineers. Trek runs on narrative nonsenseleum just as much as the Disc, just with more technobabble involved, and if anyone could make the two systems mutually comprehensible (or enough to be going on with), it'd be Ponder.

Also, Rincewind and the Voyager crew could probably exchange notes on cruel and unusual geography best appreciated at speed ;)

X-Men: Days of Future Past/Any fandom that is set in the 1970s

Or has canonical events that take place in the 1970s (like the Marauder era/First Wizarding War in Harry Potter)

I officially need DOFP/All In The Family. I wonder what Archie Bunker would say about mutants?

X-M:DOFP combined with Columbo! The twist; Columbo is a mutant telepath. That is how he always knows who is guilty as soon as he meets them, and he has to work backwards to find a method of proving their guilt tat will stand up in court.

DOFP and Starsky and Hutch! Mostly for the BFF angle. Thought there aren't a whole lot of parallels to work with...perhaps a scene of Charles and Starsky drowning their sorrows together in a bar and getting into a fight over whether having a best friend who tried to kill loads of people or a best friend who slept with your girlfriend is worse.

I really need me some DoFP/Life on Mars crossovers.

But I also wouldn't mind some Third Doctor/UNIT crosses either!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier/Chobits

Howard Stark worked with Shield on a short-lived project to create robotic soldiers in the hopes of replacing the effective strength of Captain America, but the project was publicly shelved after his death.

After being nearly killed in his own house by Obadiah, Tony Stark made use of the research, and updated it, to create a robotic body for JARVIS to upload to in times of crisis to physically help him. After a few updates the robot became shockingly lifelike, and Tony started manufacturing them for hospital use under the more friendly name 'persocom'.

Secretly, HYDRA had never shelved Howard's robotic research, it was instead melded with The Winter Soldier project. The rise of persocom use and popularity rapidly makes it easier for him to blend in.

After Steve recognizes him as Bucky they believe he is a persocom based on Bucky, until the computerizes Zola tells them he actually is Bucky, his computer enhanced brain the only part of his original body left - kept because they couldn't be sure all the little human things that made him the perfect Soldier would translate in a direct download to a computerized format as Zola's was imperfect and it wasn't attempted again.

The crackiest crossover I never wrote was an X-men\The Pretender crossover in which Broots was a mutant in hiding, having pissed off the Hellfire Club somehow, who ends up calling in the X-men when he realizes that the Centre is being operated by Mr. Sinister. I think Broot's mutant power was the ability to go unnoticed.

We also discover that Miss Parker's mother was J. Jonah Jameson's long lost sister (because irony?), and everyone from the Marvelverse who meets Jared automatically assumes that he's another missing Summers brother, to the point where Hank does a DNA test and is surprised that they're not related.

I never could fill in the plot enough to actually justify writing it, but I always sort of wished someone would.

Modern Family/The Pretender

[personal profile] castle_anon 2014-07-02 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Modern Family and The Pretender, with Phil being a long-lost Jarod-brother that The Centre didn't want. It's been a long time since I've seen The Pretender, but I envision Phil being accidentally left behind somewhere as a very young child and ending up lost in the system before being adopted by Frank and Gracie.

I figure The Centre would have been able to use its infinite power keep tabs on him long enough to see that he didn't possess any of Jarod's Pretender-y skills and would quickly lose interest. But then Jarod finds him and now he's got this huge family of Dunphys, Pritchetts and Tucker-Pritchetts. And then maybe The Centre swoops back in for Luke or Alex but is foiled by everyone's awesomeness.

Star Trek/Dark City

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
In a somewhat similar vein to Star Trek/Discworld above, though darker, I'd love a Star Trek/Dark City crossover. Preferably with the TOS crew, given "Space Seed" and "Plato's Stepchildren", and their general propensity for stumbling across lost Earth generation ships or colonies gone wrong in a way later crews didn't have so much. Or the ENT crew, that could be good either.

But somewhere in the early explorations of the Alpha Quadrant, the Enterprise discovers a strange city floating in deep space, circled by its own private sun and surrounded by its own private sea, and when the away team beams down, it's to find a population that seems to earnestly believe they're still on Earth in the 30s/40s. Except for the shambling psychiatrist and the exceptionally powerful telekinetic who show up shortly afterwards, who don't seem to like strangers showing up unannounced, especially when some of them don't bleed the right colour. It'd be a fascinatingly tense encounter, considering that the Trek crew are more than likely going to see an imprisoned population being manipulated by the only two people with memories, which won't sit well with them, while Murdoch and Schreber are going to be torn between wanting to know where the hell they are and where they were taken from, and being alarmed by a) strangers, and b) aliens, considering what they've been through.

Maybe not the crackiest crossover ever, but I so want it just for the angst and misunderstandings and slowly dawning horror once everyone realises what's going on.

Hobbit/Discworld

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Specifically, a fic where Bag End is hijacked by the Nac Mac Feegle just as Thorin & Co drop in. I actually had this one sort of plotted in my head for a while, but nothing came of it beyond a giddy ramble on LJ:

There'd be the Feegles and Nori (who, obviously, is really just a Feegle who was stolen and raised by dwarves and for some reason grew freakishly large), the Feegles and Dori (who, despite being male, is obviously a kelda), the Feegles and Dwalin (who would have the most glorious punch-up in Bilbo's front yard, possibly aided by Bifur and Bofur, and then have the slightly bizarre experience of being yelled at by a hobbit who is smaller than three of them, and outnumbered by the rest of them, but is shockingly scary despite that), the Feegles and Thorin ("Nae King! Nae Quin! Nae Laird!" "Well, I'm not your king!" "... Right then. So. Tell us more about this wee beastie ye be meanin' to kill?". Also, give Thorin one chance to mutter something deprecating about elves, and before you know it he's accidentally-on-purpose set a Feegle Clan on Thranduil, and feels no remorse whatsoever about it), the Feegles and Balin and Ori (gonnagle and gonnagle-in-training, respectively, possibly with input from Bilbo, who's the Hobbits' gonnagle), the Feegles and Gandalf (who really, by Discworld standards, is more witch than wizard, and perfectly capable of doing the Pursin' o' the Lips and the Tappin' o' the Foot), the Feegles and Fili & Kili (who compare notes on their respective keldas, Dis obviously being a proper kelda, right enough, even if she did let her Big Man wander off to fight a dragon on his own), the Feegles and Bilbo (who grabs the Big Man, gives him a stern talking to about Things You Are Not Allowed To Steal Or I'll Set Gandalf Or Dori On You, and afterwards get along perfectly well) ... All of it ending, naturally enough, when Gandalf and Bilbo let slip the existence of pipeweed, and manage to get five dozen tiny blue men stoned out of their trees in Bilbo's front parlour, while thirteen dwarves wonder what the fuck just happened and what the hell kind of things these Shire folk normally get up to.

That's the "tappin' o' the feets".

But other than that, I love it. This needs to be written.

(So does that thing where I've imagined the Feegle faced with a Galadriel who they've gotten into a tappin' feets mood.)

Well, I've been working on a Star Trek: Voyager/Pokemon: Heart Gold crossover. I'm about to start on chapter 4. Basically, Arceus (who I've decided is from New Jersey) strands Seven in New Bark Town for Reasons that I'm still hammering out the details on, where it is decided for her that she will go on her own Pokemon journey whether she likes it or not (she does not).

On a similarly Nintendo-related note to the above, I wrote a Star Trek Voyager/Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time crossover.

Link got turned into a cyborg and the Goddesses were probably Q.
