He makes movies that have universal appeal. That's why people love him, that's not really hard to understand.

I don't know what he's like as a person, but he certainly would not be the first director with a difficult character. But, that's definitely not going to make me enjoy the movies less.

I'd just put any difficulty down to an 'artistic personality' and leave it at that. God knows there's plenty of so-called artists who dish out the shitty behavior without producing anything near the magic this guy can do.
