A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I just couldn't get into either of them. I never finished reading the first books for both series.

I never got past Restaurant At the End of the Universe because it just got too tongue - in - cheek and self congratulatory to me.
