G1 Transformers. I got into the fandom because of the movie and decided to see how far the rabbit hole went. I do like the franchise. G1 is geared towards 80's kids, and while it's amusing and I respect it as starting the franchise, it just never struck me as OMG WATCH IT ALL!

There are Transformers fans who treat anyone who says that like it's a sin against their religion. I really hate that.

Orphan Black. The story seemed like something that I'd love and fans kept gushing about the great acting, but when I tried watching the show, it just didn't click with me.

Moffat's run of Doctor Who - I keep watching but keep being disappointed.

Modern Family - my friends keep recommending it, I sa a few episodes, I just don't think I like comedy.

Californication : same, got friends recommending it, but it doesn't hold my attention.

Darker Than Black. I want to like it because it was recced to me so enthusiastically, but oh my God I don't care enough about any of these people to try and figure out what's really going on.

Once Upon a Time. I'm stalled somewhere in Season Two. I've always been mildly obsessed with fairy tales, I do have favorable feelings towards some of the characters, and there are moments of accidental brilliance. But then there are large chunks of it that are mind-numbingly awful, and... I don't know. I want to love it, I really do, and I keep going back to try and watch it. It's just not working very well.

A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I just couldn't get into either of them. I never finished reading the first books for both series.

...Er, plenty, as it turned out. In fact, pretty much the whole shambles.

The Wire. People bend over backward to praise it but it's not my thing. I watched a season and half and thought, "I still don't remember half of these character's names. Forget it."

Being Human and Misfits

I tried Being Human (the UK one), and I just couldn't get into it. It didn't help that the description had me expecting a dark comedy, but even after the fact... I liked it at first, but it just got too dark for me. I know all these people who see it as the best show ever, but I just... can't.

As for Misfits, when even the mind-reading character's dog ended up hating her, I just rolled my eyes and stopped watching. I know you shouldn't judge a show by its first episode, but I just... couldn't get into it.

Walking Dead. Loved the video game, but the show was a drag after the first season and I started wishing death on every single bloody characters.

Comics: Jupiter's Legacy, Sex Criminals, Umbral, Deadpool (or more specifically, the earliest Deadpool comics. Some of them were fine, some...eh. And I've seen wonderful pages featuring Deadpool in more recent years so I imagine I would enjoy those, but trekking through all the earlier stuff to get there is not fun).

TV: Black Sails. Not sure if it got any better but the only people I was interested in were Eleanor/Max and Billy, and that didn't seem like a good enough reason to watch. Especially when it seemed like Eleanor/Max might be sunk.

Helix, too. It started out alright, but by the time Doreen died I didn't care much. I didn't like the cast much in general, and Doreen was my favorite character, and I was really shipping her and Sergio so that broke my heart even more. Just...wasn't worth it after that.

HTTYD 2 (spoilers)

I went in expecting to love it as much as I'd loved the first movie and the show.

And to give credit where it's due, it had great animation, flight scenes, battle scenes, and definitely had some great character moments.

Moments.

Because ultimately, the moments didn't really connect with each other. Valka went from a dragon master who literally danced across the backs of dragons hundreds of feet in the air to needing to be rescued in from rampaging dragons in flight. I could have lived with her needing to be rescued from Drago (after all, handling dragons is very different from fighting humans) if there had been at least a cursory attempt from her to fight him off (she could be ready to attempt a desperate and futile last stand against a gigantic dragon, but not a human?). And while I'm glad they didn't bring her back just to fridge her, I think killing Stoick was excessive and pointless, and a very cheap attempt at emotional gravity.

I'd heard it was similar to Journey, but to me the two games felt completely different. Journey was charming, joyful exploration that held my attention without being overly challenging, whereas in ICO I was just plodding around the same places for hours every time I got stuck on a puzzle, with a constant edge of anxiety in case I strayed too far from Yorda, and no real sense of actually having fun.
