I don't know what you've been through, OP, but I hope you're in a better place, now. Never feel bad about enjoying a character, and don't get too worked up about why you do. :) At my best guess, I'd say that what that kind of appeal says you is that you are someone who wants to be reassured that it's possible to go through whatever you have been through and come out fighting.

OP: Hi, thank you for caring! I'm in a better place, yes, not in a great place, but I'm at least a partially functional human being. I was even better before, but it sort of fluctuates. That being said, I think I'll never be completely okay, just different levels of managing. But that in itself is a great improvement.

And I think you're right, about the appeal :)

A lot of WS love for the common thread of life taking you where you didn't expect is legit. I just love him and I don't think that you need to justify to yourself why you like something that isn't hurting anyone. :) xoxo
